no glissando

listening to "hold" muzak -- the attention retainer, as it's called -- and the carpenters' "yesterday once more" ("every la la la") comes on with swelling strings and glissando-ing piano. the entire population has impenetrable emotional responses to carpenters records, so no embellishments are needed to push our buttons...am i right?
